At Jared and Gwen's second cross country meet there were 24 elementary schools present. Needless to say it was a little chaotic. Gwen raced before Jared.

When it came time for Jared's race we waited in the same place and he never came past. Ben went to see what was going on and find out what happened to Jared. He had been pushed a little and tripped at the beginning of the race and gotten injured. He had a couple of scrapes on his shoulder and knee and he said his arms hurt a little. He was not the only child that fell during that meet. I saw at least 4 or 5 other kids and I was only there for two races. After he got band-aids on his shoulder and knee we took him home and assured him his arms would be okay that he had probably jammed them a little when he caught himself. The next day, Sunday, he said his arms still hurt and, after checking to make sure there was no swelling or bruising, we again assured him they would be fine. Monday we sent him and Gwen to school on their bikes as we usually do and after school Jared came home and told us that his arms were hurting every time he rode over a bump so he had tried to ride without hands and had a little bike accident, but not too bad. Being amazing parents we finally decided to take him in to get them checked out. The P.A. at the urgent care took and x-ray of both arms together and came back to tell Ben that she thought they were fine, but she would send them to a radiologist to double check. Thank goodness for radiologists. It turns out that the P.A. was comparing his arms to each other and they were both broken in the exact same place, double buckle fractures of the radii.

At the orthopedic surgeon the next day, Jared asked the Dr. how long he was going to have to wear his casts because if he was going to have them on for Halloween he wanted blue and red so he could be Spider-man.
