Chewie

I really enjoy running, however, I do not always have someone to run with me when I have time to run.  I really dislike running on a treadmill and avoid it at all costs, but I also don't run alone just for simple safety reasons.  Because of this we had discussed the possibility of getting another dog.  Our two dogs our great, but taking them running... well, let's just say they are not going to scare away anyone or anything except maybe rabbits and birds.

We found a dog online and we went and met him and decided to give him a try.  The kids named him Chewie.  

 

 

The next day Jared woke up with hives covering his whole body.  Jared has been around many dogs before and never had this reaction.  We washed the dog and checked with everything Jared may have eaten.  We also asked Jared about his showering habits, that conversation went like this.

It's kind of hard to see the hives, but they were all over.

Me: Jared did you use a different type of body wash

J: No mom

Me: What type of body wash have you been using?

J: .... well, I haven't been using any body wash...

Me: None?!

J: No

Me: What about Shampoo?

J: ...I haven't been using that either.

Oh the joy of 10-year-old boys.

Well, long story short, we took the dog back the next day and withing 24 hours the hives were gone.  We will be extra careful if we ever decide to get another dog. First we'll have Jared rub his face all over the dogs fur and see what happens.
